Strangers and Pilgrims - 2019 Word Explosion
In this opening night of Convention 31, Rev. Koye-Ladele laid a firm foundation by calling believers back to their God-given identity as strangers and pilgrims on earth. Drawing from a rich sweep of Scripture, from Exodus through the Gospels to the epistles of Peter and Paul, he showed that Christians are not of this world, just as Christ himself is not of this world. With warmth, humour, and pastoral care, he used personal travel anecdotes to illustrate the dangers of carrying excess spiritual luggage, losing one's identity, and being seduced by the pursuits of this world. Like the heroes of Hebrews 11 who died in faith having seen the promises from afar, believers are called to confess their pilgrim status, travel light, and keep their eyes fixed on the incorruptible inheritance reserved in heaven.
