Our Neglected Assignment
Preaching from 2 Corinthians 5:18–21, Rev. Koye-Ladele confronts a tendency among believers to live for themselves while forgetting the commission God placed on their lives at conversion. The sermon opens with the question of identity: a Christian is not merely a church member, but a new creation bearing the identity of Christ and entrusted with His ministry of reconciliation. From this foundation, five urgent awarenesses are laid out. First, every believer is an ambassador — wherever you are, Christ is present through you. Second, preaching the gospel is not optional; Paul declared a curse on himself if he failed to do it. Third, we are debtors to the world around us, owing them the knowledge of God's love. Fourth, we are watchmen, and Ezekiel 3 makes clear that silence in the face of spiritual danger makes us blood-guilty. Fifth, we carry a mandate from Mark 16:15 to go into all the world. The sermon closes practically, outlining seven ways to preach — through lifestyle, words, love and kindness, care, giving, friendship, and targeted outreach — before launching a congregational evangelism initiative called Operation Andrew.
