Kicking Out Poverty

· Ecclesiastes 9:10 — "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might."

In this sermon, Rev. Koye-Ladele confronts three widely-held misconceptions that keep believers trapped in poverty: that poverty produces humility, that money is inherently evil, and that the wealthy cannot inherit God's kingdom. He argues that poverty in fact destabilises the mind, fuels criminality and ungodliness, causes retardation of progress, and brings deep sorrow — and that God's will is for His people to break free from it. Using Isaac's story in Genesis 26 as his anchor, he builds a practical acrostic framework around the word SOWED: Search for what you can do (Ecclesiastes 9:10), Overcome the grasshopper mindset that says prosperity is for others but not for you, Wrestle away from poverty with the same tenacity Jacob showed at Peniel, and Pursue recovery with the boldness of David in 1 Samuel 30, who was told to pursue and that he would recover all without fail. The sermon calls believers to stop waiting on government or circumstance and to partner their faith with purposeful action.
